The Basics of Backgammon Game Plans – Part 2

As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and good luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the two final Backgammon strategies to complete your game.
The Priming Game Strategy
If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift his pieces, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point eleven in your board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to stop the activity of your competitor, your competitor does not even get a chance to toss the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Technique
The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game strategy relies on alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is commonly employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
