Backgammon is the oldest known game in recorded history. It has been known as the "little battle," backgammon appeared in ancient middle east about 5000 years ago. However, Egyptians called backgammon "Senat," which was a similar form of the present game played today. Centuries ago, just people in influence, the prevailing figures of aristocracy like Egyptian kings, were permitted to play. The game started to expand around the planet in time. Various Backgammon versions were developed in several states and societies, but the basic regulations of those variants appear those of the antiquated form . For example, The Greeks grabbed a hold of the game and called it by the name "bac gamen." From there, the Anglo’s started playing backgammon in the 17th century and have continued to play it ever since. Backgammon and other old games weren’t ever welcomed by a lot of clergy. The churchgoers believe that the game was the tool of Beelzebub. This led churches to banish and burn the game. The ban and burning had never prevent folks competing games and being entertained.

Computers afford a new platform for Backgammon. When different video games are sold all over the place, computer researchers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) use Backgammon for assessing, creating and analyzing AI theories and formulas because of the ease of game rules and difficulties of strategies.
