Backgammon is the oldest known game in recorded history. It has been known as the "little war," backgammon started in Mesopotamia (now known as Iraq) almost 5 millennia ago. For all that, Egyptians referred to backgammon as "Senat," which is a close type of the current game enjoyed right now. Hundreds of years ago, only people of power, the prevailing figures of aristocracy like Egyptian pharaohs, were permitted to play. The game began to grow worldwide over time. Distinctive Backgammon versions were developed in many regions and societies, but the basic codes of those variations appear that of the antiquated form . For example, The Greeks took hold of the game and called it by the name "bac gamen." From there, the Anglo’s borrowed backgammon in the 1600’s and have continued to play it ever since. Backgammon and competing archaic games were never accepted by a good many churches. The churchgoers felt that the game was the tool of the Devil. This caused churches to banish and burn the game. The ban and burning did not stop individuals enjoying games and being entertained.

Technology makes available a brand-new platform for Backgammon. When various electronic games are for sale all over the place, computer researchers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) use Backgammon for assessing, advancing and testing AI theories and formulas as a result of the ease of game regulations and difficulties of tactics.
