The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part 1
by Erin on January 4th, 2022
The goal of a Backgammon game is to shift your pieces around the Backgammon board and bear those pieces from the board quicker than your competitor who works harder to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a game in Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and good luck. How far you will be able to move your pieces is left to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and just how you move your checkers are decided on by your overall playing strategies. Players use a few strategies in the differing parts of a game depending on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Technique
The goal of the Running Game plan is to lure all your pieces into your inner board and get them off as quick as you can. This technique focuses on the pace of advancing your checkers with no efforts to hit or barricade your competitor’s checkers. The best scenario to employ this strategy is when you believe you can shift your own checkers faster than your opponent does: when 1) you have less pieces on the game board; 2) all your chips have past your opponent’s pieces; or 3) your opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.
The Blocking Game Plan
The main goal of the blocking technique, by its title, is to block the opponent’s chips, temporarily, not fretting about shifting your pieces quickly. As soon as you have created the blockade for your competitor’s movement with a few checkers, you can move your other chips swiftly from the board. The player will need to also have a clear strategy when to extract and move the pieces that you employed for blocking. The game becomes interesting when your opponent uses the same blocking technique.
