As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The goal is to move your checkers safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition shifts their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at particular instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon strategies to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move his chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any movement of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or result a damaged position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your half of the board. After you’ve successfully built the prime to stop the movement of your competitor, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, and you move your chips and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Tactic
The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions with hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game plan uses alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is often employed when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are moved is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
